Overview & Highlights

This is for you if: You want to be trained and certified to provide CPR until advanced care arrives.

Our ASHI CPR & AED course teaches participants how to recognize cardiac arrest, activate emergency medical services and respond appropriately until additional assistance arrives. It also covers how to respond to urgent choking situations. An excellent choice for the community, workplace and outdoor setting, this training is an important life skill that will provide the peace-of-mind to handle an emergency when care is needed and seconds count. Class includes Adult, Child & Infant.

Intended Audience is individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers but who desire, or are required, to be certified in CPR and the use of an AED. These include:
  • Emergency response teams in business and industry
  • Adult residential care personnel
  • Teachers
  • Parents
  • Babysitters
  • Anyone with an interest in providing care in an emergency
Upon successful completion participants are issued a certification card good for 2 years. Age 12+.

This class is often scheduled to coincide with our Wilderness First Aid Course for those interested in broadening their training on providing emergency care in both remote and not-so-remote settings.

ASHI, the American Heart Association® (AHA), and the American National Red Cross (ARC) are the largest providers of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid training in the United States. ASHI training programs are equivalent to the training programs developed and administered by the AHA and the ARC, and the ASHI CPR and AED course conforms to the 2020 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. HSI, like the AHA and ARC, is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE). To learn more about ASHI accreditation and content, click here.
