Do you feel a connection to the natural world and want to play a role in helping to protect it for generations to come? If so, the two-day Leave No Trace Trainer Course is a great step in the right direction.

The Leave No Trace Trainer Course is a vital component of the national Leave No Trace program. It is a condensed version of the Master Educator Course and is designed for educators, guides, agency employees, other outdoor professionals and anyone interested in learning more about minimum impact skills and ethics and how to help educate others.

Research has shown that:
  1. The 2-Day Trainer Course significantly improves participants knowledge and understanding of Leave NoTrace skills and ethics
  2. Trainer Course participants report a change in behavior consistent with Leave No Trace skills and ethics
  3. 94% of Trainer Course participants go on to teach Leave No Trace after the course
This course covers the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace as well as techniques for disseminating these low impact skills. The main objective of this course is to train attendees on how to model and present the ethics to others. Various teaching methods will be introduced and discussed, and each participant will have the opportunity to present one or more of the principles to the class using innovative and engaging approaches.

The course features a short easy hike. Age 16+.

  • What to Bring

    Clothing appropriate for extended periods outside, hiking shoes, rain jacket (weather dependent), drinking water or sports drink, camp chair, notepad, pencil, daypack (optional).

  • Meeting Location

    ​​​​We will meet at USA Raft by the NOLI boat shed. Directions can be found here. When driving onto the property stay to your right and look for a shed with the NOLI sign on the side across from the restrooms.

  • Additional Information

    Food, lodging and transportation to class are the responsibility of participants. Riverside lodging and camping is available onsite and can be reserved directly with either   USA Raft  or Nolichucky Gorge Campground.

    I certify that all registrants meet course prerequisites as defined in the course description, meet the minimum age requirements and do not have any medical conditions or limitations that would prevent their ability to safely participate in the activity.

  • Cancellation policy

    NOLI activities go rain or shine. If you cancel or decrease the number of participants in your party the following applies:

    Cancellations 30 or more days prior to your activity will receive a full refund.
    Cancellations 14-29 days prior to the activity date will receive a full reservation booking voucher.
    Cancellations 0-13 days prior to the activity date are not extended a refund or voucher.
    No Shows are not extended a refund or voucher.
