Overview & Highlights

We believe that water safety is best learned early, so we have designed a kid-friendly class aimed at providing them with the basics so that they know both what to look out for and what to do if they find themselves in trouble. Tailored to kids and families who spend time in and around water, this 2.5 hour class covers ways everyone can safely enjoy their day while doing their favorite activity. We combine water safety instruction with flatwater kayaking on Watauga Lake in a protected cove under the direction of our certified instructors. Kayaks and life jackets provided. Parents are welcome to participate with their children (at additional cost) or stay to watch (no cost). All instructors carry professional safety rescue certification through the ACA.  Age 5+.
Highlights:
  • Dynamic water safety and rescue training that is comprehensive, professional and fun
  • Exposure to a wide range of techniques and skills
  • Opportunity to lead and conduct rescues in simulated scenarios
  • A supportive learning environment
