Overview & Highlights
For most of us canoeing conjures up images of relaxing days spent on lazy rivers (which we readily admit is great!). But do you know that whitewater canoeing is a ton of fun and, with the right instruction, you may find yourself having the thrill of a lifetime and leave having been bit by the whitewater canoeing bug?
Our core whitewater class, this two-day course gives participants a full introduction to whitewater canoeing and provides greater opportunity for skill development than our one-day class. Under the guidance of one of our exceptional instructors you will spend the morning of the first day learning about boats, equipment and safety considerations and will be properly outfitted to a boat, life jacket (PFD), helmet and paddle. We will then take it to the water and over the next two days you will have ample time to practice the fundamentals, strokes and river maneuvers that will help you safely enjoy and gain proficiency on the class 1-2 section of the beautiful Tuckasegee River in WNC or the Nolichucky River, located right out our backdoor in Northeast Tennessee. No experience required and all equipment provided. Age 10+. All instructors carry professional certification through the ACA.
Note: Our beginner-level whitewater canoe classes are done primarily by request.
