Overview & Highlights

This class is for you if: You have already participated in our 1 or 2-Day Survival Class, or have comparable experience, and want to take your training to the next level.

If you've taken our basic Wilderness Survival Course or already have a solid foundation in survival training, our Wilderness Survival 201 Course will help you build on that foundation by providing you with the opportunity to further develop and refine fundamental skills as well as learn new information, techniques and approaches. The focus is on expanding your understanding of and competencies in the 7 Priorities of Survival with emphasis on shelter building, firecraft, knife craftmanship and water procurement.  Additionally, skills such as cordage making will be introduced. To become truly proficient in these skills takes practice and this course affords participants with significant time for hands-on training during practical exercises and scenarios where participants are challenged to use skills they have learned in simulated conditions. This is an overnight class and participants get to build their own shelter which they will have the opportunity to sleep in if they wish. This is all done in a supportive, fun environment where your instructor is there to help you learn and succeed.

Our survival classes are held in the Cherokee National Forest and Appalachian Highlands of Northeast Tennessee, with primary locations in the Erwin and Hampton areas.  Upon meeting our group, we will make the easy short hike to camp (less than ~1/4 mile) and embark on a fun-filled, empowering and memorable experience. Lead instructor is NOLI founder and former Ranger-qualified Army officer Scott Fisher who has been teaching wilderness skills for over 30 years. All equipment provided although participants are welcome to bring their own items to use in class if they would like. Suitable both for those with and without experience. Minimum age is 10.  Specific meeting location varies by class but all sites are within 30 minutes of Johnson City. Minimum age is 10. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
